Modern troubadours with a timeless blend that beckons to be heard, Quiles & Cloudperform graceful and honest music that reflects upon the vast landscape of existence with heart and humble sensitivity. Poetry and emotion are carried soft as feathers on a wind-like current of acoustic sound. When Quiles & Cloud take the stage, there is no mistaking the dual nature of music as it exists balanced between sound and silence. Each breath is every bit as meaningful as the notes they fall between. Much credit for this is due to the synergetic relationship between the group’s core members; Maria Quiles (voice and guitar), Rory Cloud (voice and guitar) and Oscar Westesson (upright bass) making up the key elements that support this rich tapestry of song and storytelling. It’s in the way they listen to one another, swaying and resting together with an ease only found in the best of circumstances and mutual regard. -An experience worth discovering in our acoustically ideal venue.

Kelly McFarling originally hails from Atlanta, Georgia, where she hung out in church choirs and baseball stadiums, and somewhere along the way picked up clawhammer and traditional banjo. Nowadays she calls San Francisco home. Like McFarling herself, her music occupies a place between places. She pays homage to her southern roots using her signature banjo playing, while giving new life to old sounds. With her band (Jonathan Kirchner, bass; Andrew Laubacher, drums & Tim Marcus, pedal steel and guitars), she explores territory outside her clear influences of folk, old-time, bluegrass and country, creating a sound equally at home by a fireside or at a large festival. She weaves wistful, carefully-observed vignettes full of remembrance and loss. McFarling’s stories are yours and her music stays with you.
Co-presented with Ricebo.
Doors open 25 minutes before the concert.
